We originally were contracted to replace the front facing are of this bump out with shake to match the front of the home which we did a few years prior. During the tearoff of the 1st story, we uncovered the entire wall being water damaged. The extent of the damage also ran over to the left side of the section. After doing some digging, the problem was found at the belly band. It was left completely uncaulked and was pushing water in behind the siding. All of the sheathing was rotten but also the 2x4 studs had been damaged. We went in and replaced the damaged studs, removed the rotten sheathing and resheathed the wall. The shake siding was installed to both the 1st and 2nd story. The bellyband wrap and board was removed and replaced new.
